Ipswich, the historic town in the county of Suffolk offers many facilities you would expect from a major town. The town has a vibrant center and is surrounded in rolling countryside providing a number of out and about things to do.

Described as 'the most pleasant place in all England', Ipswich has a population of 120,000 and has a long and fascinating history.

One of its most famous sons, Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, founded a college in 1528, but any hopes Ipswich had of rivalling Oxford and Cambridge were cut short when Wolsey fell from grace the following year. Only the gateway of the college now survives, though a new University has at long last been established and is set to grow in the coming years.

Ipswich has some superb new developments, the docks used to be the largest in England is now part of a huge regeneration programme at a cost of around £250million.

Ipswich will soon be placed firmly on the map with the new Snoasis sports center, this development will provide the world's first indoor sports resort.

Interesting fact... the worlds first lawnmower was built by Ransomes in Ipswich in 1902.
